Breakdown of Spending

Ever wonder how local school districts, Regional Educational Service Centers (RESCs), or charter schools use their financial resources? This section breaks down the spending of Connecticut's local education agencies (LEAs). While every LEA uses its financial resources differently, costs related to the instruction of students make up the largest amount of spending by far. Use the visualizations below to explore, by category, how LEAs spend their funds.

All spending data visualized below is from the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE). The CSDE receives spending data from all LEAs through the department's Education Financial System, which is intended to standardize the capturing, management, auditing, and reporting of district and school financial and statistical information.
