Breakdown of Spending
How are local districts, Regional Education Service Centers (RESCs), or charter schools using their financial resources? Every district uses its financial resources differently and spending is reported in a number of different categories. At the end of each school year, all districts, including local districts, RESCs, and charter schools, are required to report their expenditures on the “End of Year School Report” (often referred to as “ED001”).
However, for most types of expenses, Connecticut only requires expenditures to be reported in large categories, making it difficult to understand in detail how money is being spent. In general, districts spend the majority of their financial resources on program expenditures, which includes expenses related to instruction.
